Tang Park Volleyball Court: Join us on Thursday, August 21, at 6 pm, for a swing performance on the Tang lawn by Hot Club of Saratoga.Hot Club of Saratoga, Upstate New York鈥檚 premier gypsy swing ensemble, specializes in the timeless sounds of Django Reinhardt and the vibrant atmosphere of 1930鈥檚 Paris. Their music brings the magic of hot swing to life, and they are known for their captivating performances. Whether you鈥檙e a fan of gypsy jazz or simply looking to experience something unique and delightful, the Hot Club of Saratoga is sure to deliver an unforgettable musical experience.Hot Club of Saratoga also performed at the Upbeat on the Roof in 2014, 2016, and 2023.The 2025 Upbeat on the Roof concert series celebrates the Tang鈥檚 25th anniversary year with some of our favorite acts from previous Upbeat seasons.Concerts take place on the lawn outside the Tang (we outgrew the roof!) every Thursday evening from July 10 through August 21 at 6 pm, and are free and open to the public. Visitors are invited to bring blankets, camping chairs, and their own food and drink!Crafts on the GrassTang Art Educators offer crafts for kids at every concert, starting at 5:30! A different craft will be available each week. All projects are suitable for children aged 5 and up, with adult supervision recommended. Materials will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

Zankel Music Center Thomas Amphitheater: Join us Friday, September 12, at 5 pm, for The Earthling Parade led by artist Yvette Molina. Together, we will process in a sacred and raucous celebration of being alive on this earth!Wear colorful, celebratory costumes, capes, flower crowns, or anything that makes you feel alive, and bring wands, banners, or other items to carry. Not sure where to start? Consider dressing like your favorite creature or one of the elements, or just come as your very own self in your everyday clothes to simply be in community with your fellow earthlings!The Earthling Parade marks the close of the two-year evolving exhibition Yvette Molina: A Promise to the Leaves, which is foregrounded by the four elements, the cosmos, and all creatures of earth. It encourages us to consider care as entangled within circles of life鈥攃are for one another, whether human or non-human, is care for ourselves and all.The parade departs from Skidmore鈥檚 Arts Quad and will process on paved pathways, ending at the Tang Museum at 6 pm. A map of the parade route will be posted on the Tang's website in advance of the event.This event is free and open to the public.

Following the party at 5pm, join the Tang Museum鈥檚 Earthling Parade, which departs from the Thomas amphitheater, for parade around campus in celebration of the exhibition Yvette Molina: a Promise to the Leaves.

Palamountain Hall Gannett Auditorium: Bill McKibben, in conversation with Joe Donohue Gannett Auditorium at 6 pm Tickets are required鈥� get them here The acclaimed author and environmental activist Bill McKibben will discuss his latest book, Here Comes the Sun: A Last Chance for the Climate and a Fresh Chance for Civilization with Joe Donahue of WAMC/Northeast Public Radio. This event is organized by Northshire Bookstore and co-sponsored by the Environmental Studies and Sciences Department and Sustainable Saratoga. Half of all ticket proceeds will be donated to Sustainable Saratoga. Here Comes the Sun is an honest but hopeful assessment of the climate crisis from 鈥減robably the nation鈥檚 leading environmentalist鈥� (Boston Globe). McKibben makes the case for sun and wind energy as major asset in the fight against climate change, tracing the history of solar power from a grassroots environmental project to a potential disruptor to the fossil fuel economy. By embracing these alternatives, he argues, we can reclaim the mantle of technological progressivism in a way that benefits the many rather than the few.
