  • Ruth C. Lakeway, professor emerita of music, died Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2006, at home, following a brief illness.
  • Mary E. LaMora, a long-time employee of Dining Services, died Oct. 14, 2021.
  • Lloyd C. LaMora Jr., who served Skidmore as a custodian from 1980 until his retirement in 2005, died Oct. 19, 2022. He was 80.
  • Mary Elizabeth Finch Larsen, who served as secretary to founder Lucy Skidmore Scribner and three Skidmore presidents, died February 27, 1987, in Saratoga Springs. She was 89.
  • Teresa “Terry” Fitzgerald LaVoy, who served Skidmore’s Dining Services team for more than a decade, died March 13, 2023. She was 85.
  • Juan-Carlos Lertora, who joined Skidmore as a professor of Spanish in 1980, died March 2, 2006, from heart damage caused by a virus. He was 60.
  • Sayra Benson Nikoloff Lester, associate professor emerita of education, died in Glenville, N.Y., on December 31, 1999.
  • Nancy Wiedenman Lester ’58, former director of administrative services for development and alumni affairs, died December 24, 2017.
  • Erwin Levine, professor emeritus of government, died January 12, 2002. He was 75.
  • Robert Burton Levo, a longtime campus facilities worker, died May 23, 2011, in Saratoga Springs. He was 74.
  • Victor Liguori, professor emeritus of art, died January 21, 2018, at age 86.
  • Associate Professor Emeritus Richard H. Lindemann, an accomplished but humble paleontologist described by colleagues as the backbone of Skidmore’s Geosciences program for four decades, passed away on Aug 5. He was 74.
  • Ernest R. "Ernie" Lloyd III, a longtime member of the housekeeping staff, died May 19, 2010, at Albany Medical Center. He was 85.
  • David E. Long, the architect of Skidmore's modern fundraising program and longtime vice president at the College, died Feb. 7, 2012, at Saratoga Hospital.
  • George Lowis, professor emeritus of sociology, died Friday, October 12, 2018. He was 88.
  • Mary Constance Lynn, a beloved professor of American studies emerita who documented Skidmore College’s history in a cherished monograph, died Feb. 23, 2021. She was 77.
  • Richard Mabb, a longtime member of the facilities staff, died February 27, 2010, at Saratoga Hospital.
  • David Mabb, who worked in grounds and dining services, died December 6, 2012. He was 55.
  • Alton A. Markley, a forty-year professor of chemistry, died March 24, 1983.
  • Mary Ellen May, who retired from Dining Services in 2010, died April 16, 2022, in Normal, Illinois. She was 79.
