Preview: Թϱ men's, women's basketball teams looking to make deep runs in March Madness

Թϱ men's and women's basketball teams are participating in March Madness together for the first time since 2017. The Gamecocks aim to make deep postseason runs in both tournaments, much like the teams did the last time they played in the same tournament. The men's team will kick off its March Madness against No. 11 seed Oregon at 4 p.m. on Thursday, while the women's team with face the winner of No. 16 seeds Sacred Heart and Presbyterian on at 2 p.m. on Friday.

Analysis: No. 1 Թϱ women's basketball clinches 2nd-straight SEC Tournament title in win over LSU

The No. 1 Թϱ women's basketball team picked up its eighth conference tournament title in the past decade in a 79-72 win over no. 8 LSU. Tensions between the two teams came to a high when with two minutes left in the fourth quarter, multiple players were ejected due to an altercation between players. LSU and Թϱ had three players each on their bench ejected for leaving the bench area. Gamecock senior center Kamilla Cardoso was disqualified for fighting. Despite the tense end to the game, freshman guard MiLaysia Fulwiley showcased her offensive skill with a career-high scoring display.
